The Marsh Fern Moth

July 6th, 2015

I was excited to see my second ever Marsh Fern Moth on Saturday night at Portage Lake, Parry Sound District. My one previous records was also at this location, but in late May a few years ago. It’s a stunning looking creature and is totally unmistakeable. The status of this lovely moth in Ontario is unclear, but it most probably is rather rare and local as there seem to be few records. The larvae feed on various ferns.
